Tasting: 2002 Robert Foley Claret
Dark color, expressive nose. Young wildness and slightly hot nose blow off quickly leaving aromas of wild berries and oak. On the palate these flavors continue. A massive wine, lush, it gives an overall impression of sweetness. Highly structured with casis, bing cherries, tobacco leaf, wood smoke and oak framed by big, firm tannins. Long, long finish. This wine is REALLY good right now but in a few years the tannins should soften and the complexity that is only hinted at now should really start to take shape leaving a classic. Highly expensive and highly worth it.

Tasting: 2000 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Reservee
Dark reddish black color but it does exhibt an amber element when it catches the light. Big. Tannic. Nose closed but on the tongue exhibits flavors of grilled meat, tar, and black pepper. Hot, slightly bitter after taste. Recommended, but it needs more time.
