Okay, we’re kidding about that last one. We don’t really want you to send us all your clunker wine. That might hurt some other wineries’ feelings. Still, we know that despite the glimmer of economic hope on the horizon, most collectors are spending their wine budgets very carefully this season. We’re all looking to pare clunkers – disappointing and/or too expensive wines – off the shopping list. So it is time to trade in your clunkers, but for what? We have an idea…

2006 Match Baconbrook Cabernet Sauvignon
2006 was a long, mild growing season that allowed the grapes to ripen slowly, adding layers of complexity to the big fruit we all love in Napa Cabernet. Our 2006 Match Baconbrook Cabernet Sauvignon is true to its Spring Mountain District heritage. Big, round cassis and cherry flavors with molasses, licorice, and black tea notes are supported by chewy, sweet tannins. Opening now requires a long and vigorous decant but for those with the patience to wait – whoa baby – this is going to be good one. Each year we are more and more enamored with this vineyard. Baconbrook’s vines have come in to their own and they are pulling some awesome flavors from the bountiful Napa sun and the thin soil of this tiny ridge top vineyard. The one downside to the 2006 vintage: it was not a big harvest. We only have 190 cases of 2006 Baconbrook.

The 2006 Match Baconbrook is being offered at $60 per bottle. That is 15 bucks less than previous Baconbrook releases. In fact, we are lowering the price of all of our wines. We’re also continuing our popular repeat customer discount program and, to show our special appreciation to those who stuck with us during the tough economy of 2009, we are temporarily awarding folks who already purchased this year another 10% to their discount level. That puts some of you at 30% off these new lower prices. Would you like an additional case discount? No problem. And, as is our custom, we will pay for shipping on orders of six bottles or more. Finally, since we want to reward those who help spread the word about our wines, if you refer a new customer, you’ll earn a free bottle of 2007 Butterdragon next spring. It’s time to scratch the clunkers from your list and upgrade to Match Cabernet.

Your order constitutes acknowledgement of all information contained in this letter. Incomplete or incorrect orders may delay or prevent the receipt of your wine.

Guarantee
We spare no expense in bringing you our wines. We use the best winemaking practices and bottle with the finest bottles, corks, and packaging available. However, if you are ever not satisfied with a bottle of wine purchased from us, let us know. We’ll replace it with either the same vintage or, if that vintage is unavailable, our current vintage.

Repeat Customer Discount Program
We appreciate loyalty from our repeat customers and want to give them the best selection at the best price. At the same time, we want to give new mailing list members the chance to try our wines. We think we’ve come up with a fair solution. We send our mailers out in waves, starting off with customers who purchased from us during the previous year. They will have the first opportunity to purchase the new release. They may also take advantage of a special discount based on their past purchases: 10% plus 1% more for every hundred dollars they spent with us during the previous year (usually up to a maximum of 20% but for this release, up to 30%). Customers who purchased from a release but then chose to skip a year will still receive a 10% discount to welcome them back. Skipping two years will return a customer to retail pricing and a regular spot on the mailing list. Providing we still have wine available after offering to our most recent customers, we will offer wine to regular mailing list members.

Referral Program
We want to thank those of you who help spread the word about our wines. If you are a customer and recommend our wines to a new customer (or even a mailing list member who has never purchased), you will receive a very special gift. All the new customer needs to do is put your name in the comments section of their order form.

Storage and Personal Pickup
We are unable to offer personal pickup or storage of your wine except in cases of weather holds.
