Well in 2011, and when the “kid” is 18, they show you the darndest things.  Here’s a head scratcher video from Japan…

Not wine related, but I am easily amused… video of Mishka, the singing husky.

I felt like I should be wearing a helmet just watching this…

Admittedly not wine related, but this video gave me a little chuckle today…

The town of Napa’s very first sister city (1973) was Iwanuma, Japan… only 36 miles south of Sendai.  This link takes you to a photo of the tsunami hitting Iwanuma.

Geeze, when I fly all I get to see are safety demos. Pretty cool video shot from a plane last week:

I just had to chuckle. That’s how the ad in the SKY MALL catalog described a technological marvel that is “so feature rich you won’t need a cell phone.” It doesn’t make calls, text, or email, but “there’s no need to shuffle around your pockets for your cell phone to know the date and time. It’s right there on your wrist whenever you want it.” I guess marketing in today’s interconnected world requires new verbiage to sell a watch.

Sasha and I went and saw the movie “King’s Speech” last night. Brilliant.

2003 Quilceda Creek Cabernet
Sauvignon, USA, Washington
Earthy with dark fruit, clove, cedar,
crushed rock, and wood smoke. Tremendous wine with multiple layers
that reveal themselves throughout the smooth attack, lush
mouthfeel, and extremely long finish. Decanted for an hour and
enjoyed over the next two. Wonderful now but will cellar well for
years. (95 pts.)
